In lieu of taking the qualifying exam, students will take the free 240Tutoring diagnostic test(s) for their concentration. Then they must attend Test Preparation Session during which they will be instructed on how to design a study plan. The study plan should be included when students submit thier online EPP application. Contact Michelle Perea (coedtesting@utep.edu) to inquire about Test Preparation Session dates and information.

The Test Preparation Session is required prior to submitting your online EPP admission application. During the workshop, you will construct a two-week study plan that will be submitted as part of your online EPP admissions application. Once your application has been accepted, you will be invited to attend an EPP Workshop. After successfully completing the EPP Workshop, you will be admitted into the program and receive access to register for EPP courses.

Contact Michelle Perea (coedtesting@utep.edu) to request state exam approval. Students can show they are ready for their first attempt at the TExES Content State Exam by doing the following:

1. Complete the 240Tutoring study modules for the exam, retrieving a certificate of completion.
2. Complete at least one 240 Tutoring Practice Exam.
3. Complete and log additional hours on a study report.
4. Submit a form to register for a Proctored Qualifying Exam here: .
5. Score an 80% or higher on the Proctored Qualifying Exam.

Once students have done this, they must email Michelle Perea with their name, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ ID, TEA ID, name of the exam, and the 240Tutoring Practice Exam score report. Upon review of your 240Tutoring Practice Exam, the candidate will be approved to take the state exam. Please note: State exams are run through Pearson; you can check for exam availability.  

Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ students can subscribe to 240Tutoring (240Tutoring.com) for $25 per month, which is 50% of the regular cost. Email Michelle Perea (coedtesting@utep.edu) if you are interested in subscribing to 240Tutoring at the discounted price. If you are currently subscribed to 240Tutoring, you should continue your current 30-day subscription, cancel before your next billing cycle, and contact Michelle Perea to receive information on how to subscribe under the reduced fee. Note that when you reactivate your subscription, you will have the option to log in to an existing account, so you will not lose your progress.

Register for the earliest date available you feel you will be prepared to pass the exam, as testing slots continue to fill for the coming months. Use this time to study intensively and prepare as if you only have one chance at the exam. We will work with students on a case-by-case basis to ensure your progress to residency or student teaching is not hindered.
