Shayla Salais

Shayla Salais is an online Adjunct instructor in the department of Criminal Justice at the University of Texas at El Paso (Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ). She earned her Master’s of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ in 2022 and her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal justice from Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ in 2019. Currently she is working at an emergency shelter for unaccompanied immigrant children where she advocates for their wellbeing before and after finding a permanent placement for them in the U.S. while they wait to be seen by an immigration judge. Prior to this, she worked as a research assistant at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Her research interests include immigration and crime, sexual victimization, and child victimization.
