Community Work-Study Student Opportunities
Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Engage connects undergraduate students with community-based internship opportunities designed to support professional growth, leadership development, and community engagement.
Students participating in the Community Work-Study Program gain hands-on experience while supporting nonprofit organizations and community initiatives across the region.
Internship experiences may include:
- Research and data collection
- Outreach and community programming
- Communications and marketing support
- Administrative and organizational support
- Education and engagement initiatives
Students often strengthen skills in:
- Communication
- Collaboration
- Organization and time management
- Leadership and professionalism
- Public engagement and presentation
Student Eligibility & Application Information
- Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study through Financial Aid
- Positions are posted through Handshake
- Look for positions that include “Community Work-Study” in the title
- Community partner organizations typically begin posting positions in August and September for the academic year
- Additional opportunities may become available throughout the year based on organizational needs
- Students are encouraged to apply early for the greatest number of placement opportunities
- Position availability varies annually based on Federal Work-Study funding allocations
Students may work approximately 15–19 hours per week, depending on funding and placement needs.

Students requirements for applying to the CWS Program:
- The student must be degree-seeking.
- Be a full-time student taking a minimum of 12 credit hours in the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Meet the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements (SAP).
- Complete an Employment Eligibility form through the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Financial Aid Office.
- Be willing to work with the organization on a project or set of tasks during both the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Have completed mandated training through Financial Aid (visit )
- Have a great work ethic, professional attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Participate in a 3-hour orientation at the beginning of the project period.
- Participate in mandated meetings/training (1-2 per semester) with the CCE.
- Participate at an end of year celebration where students and organizations showcase their collaborative work.
