Dr. Natalia Villanueva Rosales is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Her research focuses on designing sociotechnical systems that integrate AI, semantic technologies, and human-centered computing to support informed decision-making, promote environmental sustainability, and reduce digital divides.
She leads interdisciplinary, community-driven projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in the region we serve. Her work is collaborative and socially responsive, co-designed with communities to address real-world challenges. Dr. Villanueva Rosales has contributed to over 25 funded projects supported by federal agencies, industry, and foundations.
She holds a B.S. in Computer Science Engineering (Universidad Panamericana, Mexico), a Graduate Certificate in Statistics (CIMAT, Mexico), an M.Sc. in AI (University of Edinburgh, Scotland), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Carleton University, Canada).
